DISTRESSING AND FATAL ACCIDENT. (BY TELEGRAPH-PRESS ASSSOCIATION.) Nelson, October 27
A fatal accident occurred today near the Haven Road, where excavations are going on upon the hill side for reclamation works. A small quantity of earth fell, and a stone, striking a man named John Winter, knocked him down. When he was picked up he was dead, his neck being broken. The ecene was heartrending, the poor fellow's wife and mother both being present. At the inquest a verdict of " Accidentally killed " was returned. Winter leaves a wife and two children.
