A KING WHO WOULD A WOOING GO. (BY TELERGRAPH — OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Cambridge, October 28.

When the Queen of Rarotonga hears what prevented Tawhiao from meeting her at Whatiwhatihoe during her recent visit, I have no douot she wilL pardon him for this seeming piece of discourtesy. Tawhiao went a- wooing at Hokonui the daughter of a well-known chief (lately deceased), taking his son with him to assist him in his object. Having 'done "the settlement for several days, bedecked in all the gaudy plumage of his wardrobe, he proposed to the fair object of hia attentions, bur. it seems the son had been acting most unfilially in the meantime, as he had been opposing the paternal suit in his own interest, and having proposed before his royal parent, was accepted. Tawhiao, after screwing up his courage to the necessary pitch, was ignominously rejected, and is said to have hurried home immediately to meet the Queen of Rarotonga to try his luck, in that quarter. It is on the cards that Tv Tawhiao is to be prohibited his father's home and " cut off with a shilling ;" but thfc question at once arises— where will his royal parent get the shilling ?
