Nisw Find. — The show in the mine at nrwnt ia very satisfactory. In the stopes on the foohvall portion of the lode things- have also a healthy look, stone of payable grade leing #ot from the different faces. The reef in the stopea where the gold was fi «t >tv»< with continues to look well, and still yields a considerable portion of Jthe stuff acnt to the battery.' From the stopes on tne No. 1 reef .in. the Arizona part of the mine stone of fair quality is coming to hand, Jand , occasionally p a very good show of gold is visible. The month's return from the mine is likely to come up to the average, for there is still on hand a quantity of quartz of superior grade; which will be treated; before the next gen >ral cleaning up, and which is expected to make the all round yield equil to that of last month. Waiohongomai.— Operations aro again being carried on with some vigour by this company, and with a fair prospect that the works now in hand will load t> the opening up of a c nisi lemble area of payable ground. In the Virginia City section of the property men arc employed putting in a cross-out drive to intersect the reef now being worked in the Galena Claim adjoining, and it is expected the lode will shortly be in hand. Other hands are engaged in the Provincial section, at the north end of the claim, getting out a trial crushing from the mineral vein near the May Queen boundary. The small tests that have been made of samples of the ore from that vein have yielded a high precentage of lead, which added to the gold and silver it has been proved to contain will give a value to the stone that may, it is hoped, admit of its being profitably worked. In the Three Fools' part of theground a nice looking leader is now being opened up. The quartz being got from here at present is of a most jiromising description, and there is every probability theit gold in payable quaniity will shortly be dropped upon. . . New Battery. — Since the re-entry by Mr P. Ferguson on the tramway work, abandoned a shoi t time since' by the contractors, he has- made a strong effort to get the line completed without further loss of time. Over twenty men are at present employed on 'the eaijtliworlc, and, should the, weather continue' favourable, communication between jthe main line and ••the. battery should! be' practicable before many weeks have pUt.
