THE LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.

The following circular has been forwarded to all the members of Parliament within tho Auckland Provincial District, and to many other gentlemen holding Liberal view3 on political opinions : — "Auckland Liberal Association, June 6, 18S5. Sir, —I have the ] Measure of forwarding to you hoi'owith a copy of rules of the Avickland Liberal Association, with a, statemont of tho public objects it heperf to assist in tho promotion of. Tho Association dining tho last few months has been successful in obtaining the aid of tho Hon. the Premier, Sir Goorgo Grey, K.C.B., and Mill. B. Duffus in the delivery of addresses on subjects of political and general importance. They have also passed several rcso'uiions, and sent them to the members of both Houses, on questions of public interests. Through their exertions petitions to Parliament in favour of a land tax are being signed in Auckland and elsewhore, which vill be presented during the ensuing session. Meetings are hold once a fortnight, when all subjects of curront political interest are opon for discussion. The support hitherto recoived is encouraging, but with a larger number of members, affording greator financial resources, tho olllcicncy of the Association is capable of moro extended influonce, and exercising greater power The Association is frequently in receipt of communications from similar societies in other parts of tho colony, and has already actively assisted in the formation of branch associations in several parts of the Auckland electoral district.
