Melbourne, May 29. Under this date the "Argus" published the following cable message from London : — "The scheme recently proposed by Sir Julius Vogel for lending small sums to farmers at a low rate of interost is strongly condemned by the city authorities. If carried out,it will probably cause a rupture with the agency by which the financial arrangements of tlie colony are at present managed." The Venerable Archdeacon Leslie Randall, M.A., of Buckingham, has been appointed Dean of Hobart. Tho man Ross, who was rocontly arrest< i. at Louth on a charge of being concerned in the robbery at tho Horsham branch of the London Chartered Bank of Australia last year, has been discharged from custody. He has turned Queen's evidence against his accomplice, Milne Smith. Queensland black trackers have examined the locality in Studley Park where the empty money-bags were found and have succeeded in finding further evidence of the thieves.

Mllbournk, June 9. The examination of the prisoners in custody for the Simpson Road bank robbery was concluded yesterday, when the whole of their number were remanded, {bail being refused. Tho police havo been taking active steps to prevent the disposal of the plunder by any confederate. Four of the prisoners have been identified by witnesses as the same who wore seen to leave tho bank and drive off in a cart, and subsequently enter Studley Park. A further search in the Park yesterday, resulted in the discovery of £200 in National Bank notes and a bag silver buried, in the ground. Adelaide, June 4th. — Parliament was opened yesterday by His Excellency Sir Wm. Robinson. In the House of Assembly in the evening, the Hon. J. W. Downer, who was Attorney-General in tho Bray Ministry, gave notice of a voto of want ofconfidence in the Ministry, after which the House adjourned. The issue of tho voto i» considered doubtful.
