MELANCHOLY & FATAL ACCIDENT.
It is our painful duty to record a very sod occur; enee that took place yesterday. The eldest son of Mr JR. Onyon, steam- • boat agent, whilst in charge of a barge load of timber, in tow of the steam tug Huia, on its way to Te Aroha, was accidentally drowned. Owing to the tragic occurrence talcing place some 12 or 14 miles down the river, betwixt here and Paeroa and in a place difficult to get at from the road, we were unable to gain any particulars as to how the accident occurred up" to the time of going to press.
