The result of the past year's operations of Dunedin Tramway Company is not very encouraging. In the report to be submitted to the annual meeting on Monday next, the directors state that the car mileage for 1882 was 387,455, and for 1883 was 383,589, and the receipts for 1883 were £1,382 less than for 1882. The revenue account shows a credit balance of only £2,368 5s ; and the profit and loss account 0 after paying interest on the cost of the con cern, shows a debit of £1,214 15s. This, ifc is to be hoped, is but a temporary check to the prosperity of the Company, and with the revival of trade there is little doubt of the cars being more largely patronised, and the concern rendered remunerative.
