NAPIER MARDI GRAS.
Press Association. NAPIER. December 28. The great annual festival «of Mardi Gras opened yesterday in glorious weather. The city is thronged with visitors, and the procession along- the Marine Parade was witnessed by thousa**t^_ The outstanding" feature of the arena events in Nelson Park in the afternoon was the open-air boxing amateur jphampionships. . The night session was attended by thousands of masked revellers, and (nany participated in a lantern parade. Dancing was kept up on the park till a late hour. It is raining to-day.
