STEWARDS STAY OUT.
STRIKE STILL UNSETTLED.
TWENTY-THOUSAND IDLE.
By Cable. — Press Association.—Copyright. (Rec. Dec. 28, 9.55) SYDNEY, Dec. 28. Notwithstanding the recommendation of-the Transport Workers' Federation that the stewards should resume work, it is understood* that the strike will not be declared off till after the New Year holidays. A section of the Trades Hall officials, who are involved in the strike, intend asking the Rt. Hon. W. M. Hughes to appoint a special tribunal on the same lines as the coal tribunal to determine the issues. It is estimated that 20,000 are directly unemployed throughout the Commonwealth as a result of the strike. '
