REALLY "UP THE POLE."

A Newark City (U.S.) policeman saw a man lying across the wires of a telegraph pole (writes the '' Central News'' New York correspondent). Not knowing whether he was dead or sleeping, and fearing to arouse him by shouting in the latter event, the constable sent for assistance. While officers held a net, a "steeplejack" member of the force climbed the pole, awakened the sleeper, and induced him to come down. The man said he "had been out with the boys," but had no recollection of having climbed the pole, ov of how long he had been there.
