CROQUET.
ANNUAL TOURNAMENT. The seventh annual tournament promoted by the Canterbury Croquet Association -was commenced this morning, despite the downpour of rain, at the United Club's courts. On the programme were the Open Canterbury Championship,'' the Ladles' Championship, Canterbury Club Pairs, Canterbury Handicap (open), and Canterbury Handicap (for juniors). Play ' was abandoned at 12.30 p.m., owing to the heavy state of the courts and the continued rainfall. Following are the results ot the gomes played:— OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. S, McCullough beat 11. Cnughley 2-0. A. Boss beat Mrs Maddrcn 2-0. HANDICAP (OPEN). Lill (1J bisques) beat Holmes (3 bisques) Williams (scr) beat Miss Smith (3J bisques) 26-10.
