PERSONALS.
Mr W. F. Russell, manager for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., with "The Man from Toronto" Company, arrived from the north yesterday. Sir Cecil Moon and Lieut.-Colonel F. B. Creswell, Boy Scouts Commissioners in New Zealand, have been awarded the Medal of Merit. Mr G. H. Bullard, Commissioner of Crown Lands . for Taranaki, has been appointed (subject to appeal) to a similar position in Canterbury, in succession to Mr H. D. M. Haszard, who will retire from, the Land and Survey Department at the end of next March. Mr A. D. Dobson, City Surveyor, will leave" Christchurch on Wednesday to attend the annual meeting of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science in Melbourne, where he will represent the New Zealand Institute of Engineers, New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, and the Canterbury Philosophical Institute. Mr James Drummond, M.A., has been appointed Chief Inspector of Secondary Schools for the Education Department, in succession to Mr T. R, Cresswell, M.A., who has become headmaster of Wellington College. Mr Drummond has been a master of Auckland Grammar School for 16 years, and prior to that he was a member of the Nelson College staff. Mr R. D. Kirkpatrick, Associate of the Canterbury School of Engineering, and since 1914 Instructor in EngineeringHo the New Plymouth Technical College, has accepted the appointment of Chief Instructor in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical College. Mr Kirkpatrick studied for five and a-half years at - Canterbury College, taking both mechanical and civil engineering, and has been most successful in building up a strong engineering department at New Plymouth.
