LICENSING COMMITTEE.
m ~ LYTTELTON. The quarterly meeting of the Lyttelton Licensing Committee was held at noon today, those present being. Messrs S. E. McCarthy, S.M\, F. G. Norton, W. £. Mitchell, F. Knights, J. Richardson, and J. Orton Bradley. H. J. Bell H. Holmes) was granted a transfer of the license of the Hilltop Hotel from W. M. Coombs. Mrs Jessie Mac Donald (Mr G. \V. C. Smlthson), executrix of the late Norman Mac Donald, was granted a transfer of the license of the Royal Hotel, Lyttelton. Wm. Horatio Candy (Mr Smithson) was granted a transfer of the license of Ihc Albion Hotel from Thomas Shclton Andrews. Daniel Woreham's application for a renewal of the license of the Mitre Hotel was adjourned until the March meeting to permit of certain necessary improvements being carried out. Mr Duncan, representative of Ward and Co., proprietors of the Canterbury Hotel (Mary Reid, licensee), stated that the building permit was still being held up, and application would have to be made next month to the Board of Trade. The application for a license was adjourned until the June meeting. Thomas Wilson, of the Grand Hotel. Akaroa, whose application for a license hud been adjourned at the September meeting until such time as a Are escape had been provided, was now granted a renewal of the license.
