WORSE "MESS-UP" THAN THAT IN FLANDEBS.
LIVELY DEBATE IN NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATURE. (Received December 8, 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 8. There was an acrimonious debate in the Legislative Assembly over a motion to provide against the detention of persons in any institutions against their will, and providing for penalties for any infringement of the liberty of the subject. A section of the House accepted the Bill as aimed at the convents. Mr Minahan declared:— If you in any way interfere with those Catholic institutions, there will be a " mess-up " N here worse than that which occurred on the plains of Flanders!
