TO-DAY'S WOOL SALE.

HALFBREDS SELL BETTER. COAR.SE GRADES WEAKER. About 5000 bales of wool were submitted to a full bench of buyers at the Choral Hall this morning. This was the second sale held in the Dominion since the commandeer expired. Most of the usual Home and colonial houses were represented. The Bradford buyers showed a disposition to do business within somewhat conservative limits. Tho sale was erratic, and prices were inclined to fluctuate in a peculiar manner upon wools of a similar description. Half bred wools wore much better competed for than at the opening sale of the season, and the super qualities ranged from par to 14d per lb better with an almost similar advance in the other grades of halfbred. New Zealand mills competed rather keenly for the better classes of halfbred. The better quality of three-quarterbred wool from 46 's to 48 's qualities was oh a par with last sale, but the fair to inferior quality was very irregular, at from par to Id lower. Crossbred wool was also irregular, and was approximately Id lower than at the last sale. Quite a surprising amount of crossbred wool was sold at from 5d to 6d per lb, and the coarser grades, such as Leicester and Lincoln, Vere very dull of sales at between 4d to Cd. Merino wool was about on a par with the previous sale, but, as so few lines were" sold under the hammer, a comparison is somewhat difficult to make.

There was a disposition on tho part of growers to meet the market, and about half the offering changed hands. The range of prices in comparison with last sale is as follows:—
