SOUTH WAIMAKARIRI RIVER BOARD.
The South Waimakariri River Board met yesterday afternoon, Mr H. E. Peryman presiding. The overseer reported that since the last meeting of the hoard two large and two small floods took place on November 25 and 26. No damage was done to any of the hoard's works, which were all in use. The new groynes at Stewart's Gully, although the ■water went over them, did not move, and the river silted up between the groynes. The course of the river had altered considerably from Kimheriey to where it entered the north branch. There were now two streams running down the old channel through lot 22, and just missed the end of No. 2 embankment. It then joined a heavy Stream opposite Henderson's Road, missing all the protective works and keeping well to the centre of the bed. It looked as if it might come round by Mason's Flat, where a small stream is now running. The report was adopted. A number of reports of sub-committees set up to inspect the various reserves under the board's control were referred to the overseer for a report. The Bank of New Zealand wrote advising the board that the board's debentures amounting to £13,000 would fall due on January 1, 1921. The secretary, Mr C. \V. Hervey, reported that the sinking fund amounted to £9OOO, while various outstanding amounts owing to the board totalled atiout £4020. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee.
