The Government steamer Tutanekai, which |eft Auckland In a search for the missing schooner Jubilee, arrived at Nlue Island on December 4 after unsuccessfully searching the various islands en route . The Tutanekai will return via the Kermadecs. UNION S.S. COMPANY. The Kanna sailed from this port on Saturday for Wellington, where she will continue loading for Auckland. The Wanaka is to return to Dunedin tomorrow fro.n Bluff to load for Auckland. The Manuka, from Sydney, via Wellington, is due here on Wednesday, and will ■ail that evening for Sydney and Hobart, With passengers and cargo. The vessel has 854 passengers for Wellington. The Kamo, on completion of discharge of Iter coal and timber, will sail this evening for Westport, where she will load for Bluff •nd Dunedin. The Mokoia, from Auckland direct, will not arrive at Wellington until Wednesday. She will sail, probably the following day, for Lyttelton. After landing the locallyconsigned portion of her freight, which includes sugar, she will proceed to Dunedin ' to finish discharge, and will subsequently undergo survey at Port Chalmers. -~ The Maheno Is due at Auckland to-day from Sydney, and Is to salt on the return trip on Thursday. The Garbeta arrived at Wellington on Thursday morning from Newcastle, after being delayed on the trip owing to trouble With her engines. The vessel left the coal

port on November 25, at 8.30 p.m., and experienced line weather until the evening of the 27th, when, at about 8 o'clock, a thick fog was met. The fog lasted during the whole of the night, but cleared early the next morning. A short time after the fog had cleared the Garbcta's engines broke down, and the vessel was brought to a standstill. Repair work was immediately commenced on the low-pressure cylinders, which had completely broken down, and by the evening the vessel was able to proceed at a reduced speed. Fine weather continued until the vessel reached her destination. The Garbeta, which is in command of Captain D'Cruz, and under the agency of the Union Steam Ship' Company, has 7100 tons of coal for discharge at Wellington. KINSEY & CO. The Somerset is to leave Lyttelton this afternoon for Dunedin to continue discharge of her New York cargo. The Wakatu is set down for sailing this afternoon with a full cargo of general products for Kaikoura and Wellington. The Baden-Powell arrived here yesterday morning from Wellington, for which port she is to sail to-morrow. The Hakushika Maru completed discharge of her 9000 tons of Japanese coal for the railways on Saturday evening, and sailed for Sydney, where she will take in a quantity of cargo for Java. The C. and D. liner Virgilia, which arrived at Wellington on Friday from Auckland, has 2000 tons of New York cargo to land. She is due at Lyttelton on Friday next to continue discharge. CANTERBURY S.S. COMPANY. The Calm sailed from Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon for Dunedin and Timaru. She is due hack here on Wednesday to load for Wellington. The Breeze reached this port yesterday morning, from Wanganui direct, and Is to be dispatched this evening for Dunedin and Timaru. A. RHIND & CO. The Wootton arrived here yesterday afternoon, and is to sail this evening for Welling. 1 ton again, with a full load of general items of freight. F. E. SUTTON & CO. The Orepuki reached this port yesterday afternoon with a load of timber from Nydia Bay. She will sail on Wednesday for Greymouth, taking cargo for Hokitika. CLAUDE FERRIER & CO. The schooner Abemana left Hobart on November 27 for Lyttelton with 200,000 ft of hardwood, and on completion of discharge she will leave for Greymouth. BLACKBALL COAL CO. The Ngakuta arrived at Gisborne on Friday with coal from Greymouth. She will continue discharge at Tokomaru Bay, and finish at Whakatane. Afterwards she will go to Kaipara to load timber for Lyttelton. The Ngatoro reached Lyttelton yesterday afternoon from Titirangi, via Pigeon Bay, where she landed 250 cattle. The vessel is to leave here to-night for Greymouth with general cargo. F. E. Sutton and Co. are the loading agents. WESTPORT COAL CO. t The Canopus arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon with a full load of coal from Westport. PERSONAL. Mr J. Miller has joined the Ngahere as first mate in place of Mr A. Duthie, who has taken command of the Ngatoro during the absence of Captain Dowell on holiday. j Mr G. Sharpe, second mate of the Calm, is exchanging places with Mr Cameron, second mate of the Storm. OVERSEAS VESSELS. The Shaw, Saviil and Albion Co.'s steamer lonic will discharge over 2000 tons of general cargo from London at Port Chalmers, and will load about 5000 freight carcases of frozen meat, 1400 boxes of butter, and 4000 sacks of oats. The Federal Steam Navigation Co.'s new cargo steamer Surrey, which was at Lyttelton in May last, shipping cargo for New York, arrived back here yesterday morning from Sydney, to commence loading mutton and general cargo to the agency-..01' the New Zealand Shipping Co. The R.M.S. Niagara is due at Auckland to-day from Vancouver, and has been timed | to sail to-morrow evening from Sydney. Advice was received in Auckland that the steamer Opawa, which arrived at the nortli(crn port on Saturday from Liverpool with general merchandise, grounded near Cape Henry, Hayti, and, in consequence, a geneI ral average of 1 per cent, has been declared. Itjs not thought that the cargo suffered any\damage. The' Opawa is to the agency of Line. The U.S. and A. Line steamer Nokatay, was due at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. She is to sail on December 14 for London, via Monte Video. The steamer Kifuku Maru arrived at Wellington on Friday afternoon from Japan.
