ARTHUR'S PASS TUNNEL.

WAGES DISPUTE SETTLED. [From Our Own Reporter.] HOKITIKA, August 17. The dispute which arose over the payment of workers in the Bealey section of the Arthur's Pass Tunnel has been settled. The men have resumed work under the contract system, at a rate of £ll 4/- a foot, with a bonus i&t the end of the year, and n guarantee that for the first two mohths they will earn £1 a day. The new rate is 1/- per foot more than was offered by Mr A. Dinnie, of the Public Works Department, when he met the workers recently.
