The Irish Hierarchy in a collective protest regarding the treatment of Archbishop Mannix, says he only used his right as a citizen of the Empire to criticise the conduct of the Government, and set forth fearlessly in plain, dignified language the claims of Australian democracy, and the rights of his own people in Ireland.
