LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.

COUNCIL OF CHURCHES. To th. Editor of THE SUN. Sir,—ln reading the report, of the Council of Churches, I noticed the Rev. Paterson mentions that it is contrary to the fundamental spirit of Christianity to nurse a grievance. Why, then, do these ministers, such as the Rev. North aud Co., jump at every rumour, whether true or false, and show their Christian spirit by trying to stir up strife? Not so long ago we nearly had a riot here in New Zealand, and who was at the head of affairs then but the Rev. Howard Elliott? And I am sure that he went <.ne better then than Archbishop Manuix, as he has not had a horsewhipping yet. Miss Roberts admits that there are Protestant Sinn Feiuers (and compelled to be through sheer terror?). She also states that you could not show a British Hag in certain parts of Ireland. That is all bosh. 1 will go further, and state that if Miss Roberts will guarantee the expenses, 1 will go to any part of Ireland and hoist the Union .lack'. As to Catholics not being loyal, (hey are more loyal than the people who are always trying to stab them in the back. My live brothers went to the Front —two are buried on Callipoli, two in France, and the returned one is crippled —and there are three of us left yet who will light for Britain when required. —I am, etc., A CATHOLIC.
