ENGLAND WINS FINAL TEST. Prtst Aasociation. i WELLINGTON, August 14. The final League test match between England and New Zealand was played to-day, in the presence of about 3000 spectators. ?\ew Zealand won the tops, and attacked vigorously in the first five minutes, but the English backs turned the game by instituting several pretty passing rushes. New Zealand, tackling iwell, staved off the rushes. After up and down play. New Zealand instituted a rush, and 'Walters scored near the corner. Ifwerson failed with his kiek. Short]v afterwards, Avery marked in front of the English posts, and Ifwerson kicked a nice goal. A few minutes later the Dominion backs ran nicely down the field, and ifwerson, defeating the opposition, scored beneath the posts, taking the kick. Ifwerson added the major points. New Zealand 10, England 0. England pressed, and was awarded a free kick, but Gronow's effort failed. England pressed again, and Skillhorn nearlv crossed the line. Repeated efforts'by the Homelandcrs was rewarded by Bowers scoring from a melee near the line. Gronow failed with his kick. At this stage Dobson replaced Ifwerson. who retired hurt. In the second spell. play was even for some time. I'p and down rushes characterised the play, each side making sure of its tackling. England attacked persistently, and eventually Bacon crossed the line at the corner. Gronow's kick failed. A free kick later turned a dangerous move by the Englishmen. Exciting play held the spectators' attention for the remainder of the game, and a few minutes before time Clarke followed up a speculative kick and scored, Gronow kicking an easy goal. The game concluded without" further score, England winning by 11 to 10. Referee, Mr A. House.
