SPARROW SHOOTING.

MATCH AT SOCKBURN. I The Christchurch Gun Club held a sparrow-shooting match at Sockburn on Sntur(lay> at which a number of visitors from other ditsricts were competitors. Good sport was witnessed, the birds being particularly active. In the first match 11 competed. It was a !>/- sweep, the stake being divided between H. Clinch (Auckland) mid E. Lansdell (Southland). Both shot from the 21>ds mark, and made eight kills out of a possible 10. Sixteen competed hi the 11 sweep. E. Henzel (Christchurch) 20yds and E. F. Stead (Christchurch) 2.lyds shot the possible and divided £l.l. H. (.linen (Auckland) 21yds and E. lansdell (Soutliland) 21yds each shot nine birds, and divided third money. In a 15-bird match, there were 12 competitors, R F. Stead 21yds, winning with 13 birds. D. F. Dcnnehy 20yds, E. Henzel 21yds and J. Pilcher 22yds, divided second and third money. Twelve competitors shot for a 10/- sweep for seven birds. The stake was divided by J. Gorton llflvds, C. Truscott 21yds and .1. Pilcher ! 22yds A special prize of 100 cartridges was presented by Mr K. F. Stead.
