AWARDED TO AUOKLANDER. Ptvu A.tsoei*tion. WELLINGTON, August 13. The Registrar of the New Zealand TJniversity has fcaen advised by cablegram from the English agent of the V-uivorsity that the Commissioners have awarded the 1851 exhibition science research scholarship for 1920 to Mr R. "jkl. Winter, a graduate of Auckland TTniversity College. lu 1!>13 Mr Winter, who was then a student at the Auckland Grammar School, gained a University entrance scholarship. After Qualifying for the B.Sc. degree and gaining the senior scholarship in chemistry in 1916, he enlisted and (rent to the Front with a commission. After being demobilised in England ho continued his research work in chemistry at the Imperial Institute of Technology, and earned a highly favourable report from Professor Baker. Returnlug to New Zealand late last year, he resumed work under Professor Worley, at Auckland, and in November gained the M.Sc. degree, with first-class honours in chemistry. Mr Winter's success is one of the most brilliant of the many fine achievements on the part of New Zealand students who have returned from the War.
