SERIOUS CHARGE.

PROMINENT DUNEDIN MAN ARRESTED. Frees Association. DUNEDIN, August 11. . . A spnsation was created in the city this afternoon when it- became known that Matthew Bradley, a well-known figure in civic -circles, had been arrested on a charge of unlawful intercourse with a girl 14 years of age: The accused, who-is 52 years of age, conducts a bootmaking business in the city, and came into speeial prominence during the War period owing to the active part he took in connection with recruiting. He is a Justice of the Poaee, and member of the Dunedin City Council, and at present chairman of the Gas Committee. Bradley was brought before the Magistrate's Court and remanded till August 20, on bail.
