SHORTAGE OF EXPLOSIVES.
RENDERS WAIKATO MINES IDLE. Vrcsx Association. AUCKLAND, August 2. .Viler a lapse of several days, in which the mines were idle through a shortage ol explosives, work was resinned at the Iluntlv and Rotowaro mines of the Taupiri Coal Company, and the Pukemiro mine of the Pukemiro Company, this morning. The supplies of explosives that arrived by the schooner Ilnia from Melbourne on Friday night were got through lo the mines yesterday. It is estimated that with the present supplies, both companies will be in a position to carry on for at least six weeks. In the meantime they arc endeavouring to secure further supplies of explosives. The loss in output as the result of the stoppage has been estimated at approximately SfiOO tons.
