POTATO EMBARGO.

DELEGATION TO AUSTRALIA. IFrom Own Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, August 2. The Government is anxious to get the "potato delegation" away to Australia as soon as possible, so that immediate representations may be made to the Commonwealth Government, in (he hope that the embargo on the import of New Zealand potatoes into Australia may be lifted. Mr A. 11. Cockayne has been selected to represent the Department of Agriculture, and it now remainsonly for the growers to appoint a man to accompany the Government's officer. It is understood thai Mr T. Buxton, of Temuka, was suggested as representative of the potatogrowers, but that his selection is being opposed in Canterbury, on the ground that he is a merchant and lhat it is desirable that the growers' delegate to Australia should be a grower purely and simply. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massev) stated to-night that the Government was anxious to have the delegation leave by the first available boat.
