Miss Kathleen Glendining (Dunedin) is visiting this city. Mrs G. Proctor (Oamaru) is on a visit to Christchurch. Mr Justice Stringer and Mrs Stringer have gone to Auckland for Christmas. Mrs Cayley Robinson and Miss Robinson, of this 'city, have gone to Wellington on a holiday visit. Mrs John Jamieson and her daughter, Mrs Sydney Jones, and family, are spending the holidays at Sumner. Mrs J. Fleming Douglas, the Misses Ruth and Margaret Douglas, of Dunedin. are in. Christchurch at present. Dr and Mrs Paterson (Dunedin), Mrs Mason Chambers and the Misses Chambers (Havelock North) are staying at Warner 's. Mr and Mrs Tringham and Miss Tringham (Wellington) left for the south this morning, after a short stay in Christchruch. Miss Gladvs Smith (Wellington) is the guest of' Miss V. Haskins. Papanui. Her sister. Miss Enid Smith, has gone to the West Toast. Mr and Mrs Nettlefold (Sydney). Mrs J. Eadie (Dunedin) and Mrs W. S. Staveley (Hokitika) are amongst the guests at the Clarendon. The engagement is announced of Miss Sylvia Westenra. daughter of Mrs Westenra, Christchurch. and the late Dr G. Westenra, to Mr H. C. Nolan, of Gisborne. At the conclusion of the course in invalid cookery held at the Technical College for hospital nurses, an examination in the principles and practice of the subject was conducted by Mrs Gard'ner. Miss Gilmour and iliss Beck, and passes were awarded as follow: — First class: Misses C. Broughton, R. Cooke, D. Kvle, A. McLachlan. E. McMillan, G. Nicholl, F. Nicholson, G. Wi.ldowson and A. Watt. Second class: Misses N. Congreve and E. Gibbons. The following students were successful in passing the recent Home Nursing examination held under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Association: — Mesdames Annie I. Fright, Anne E. Higgs. Ada F. Wade and Eunice E. O. Weir, Misses Annie Duff, Eva Earwaker, Pearl A. Higgs, Agnes Lang. Helga M. Mavne. Marion Reese. Daisy M. Stewart, Margaret E. Scott. Verena E. B. Turner. lifa Ellis and Estelle L. O. Priest. Marks are obtainable on application at the office, 119 Worcester Street.
