PAPARUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

At the last meeting of the Pnpnrua County Council all the members were present with the exception of Mr Langdnlc-Hunt, who forwarded an apology. An application was received from the Public Works Department for leave to supply a propertv in the district with electricity from the Halswell main. This was granted on the condition that the Pnpnrua county reserve to itself the right to take over the supply n t any time of all properties within the county boundaries. Mr Arnst requested permission to lay pipes across the road in order to drain his cowshed into a public drain. It was decided to adhere to the previous decision on the matter. Several complaints were received of Interference with wnter race dams and it was decided to take proceedings against offenders. The clerk reported the steps he had taken to deal with repairs on the Bealey Road. It was also decided to repair Middle Lincoln Road Mr Shipley reported that he had been invited by the Council of Churches to visit Paparua Prison. In his opinion the prison was well conducted and the interests of the men were considered in great detail. Messrs Pntcrson and Maginness reported on the proceedings of the Counties' Conference and detailed the steps taken to secure the repeal of clause 9 of the Selwvn Subdivision Act. Telegrams were read from Mr Witty, M.P., and the Hon. Col. R. H. Rhodes, that the clause had been repealed. The clerk stated that he had written Messrs Rhodes and Witty giving them the best thanks of the council. The clerk reported that water race cleaning was proceeding satisfactorily, the top section being completed and the work in the • other two sections going through well. The crusher was at present in the Weedons pit and had made the satisfactory (ally of an average of lid yards per day during the month spent at Lincoln and Weedons.
