Life of a Tyre.

In these days of high costs of everything, the motorist knows what a big item tyres are. The motorist knows, too, that many a tyre is discarded before its real period of usefulness is at an end. If, for instance, a tyre is badly cut or burst, a large proportion of the rubber and fabric Js generally in such a condition that, if the proper methods were employed in making repairs, the tyre could be relied upon to last over many hundred more miles. Some motorists do know that if a damaged tyre were taken to the premises of Messrs Loughrey and Tully in Belfast Street, that tyre would be so treated and repaired under the most up-to-date conditions that-its use for the road would be placed beyond dispute. In fact, the firm, which was one of the first to set up in the vulcanising business in New Zealand, repairs tyres by a method not adopted by any other firm in Australasia. The firm claims that the method adopted by it is the best. Some motorists are not aware of the high reputation of the firm, and probably incur unnecessary loss each year by throwing away tyres that are by no means "done." So confident is the firm of the success of Its work that, if a motorist is not convinced, by being told what the firm can do with a tyre, then the firm will repair a tyre, and if the results are not satisfactory the motorist is not called upon to pay. A visit to the firm's premises will suffice to prove what strides have been made in the vulcanisers' and tyi repairers' art. Messrs Loughrey and Tully are known far and wide for their excellent work. Sheer merit is the foundation of what is now a large and extending business. In fact, in a short time, the firm will be removing to larger premises in Tuam Street West, where they will also open a free garage for the use of customers. The firm was not able to obtain space for an exhibit at the Olympia exhibition, but the exceptionally meritorious display made at the Industrial Exhibition •will be fresh in the minds of motorists who saw it. Those who did not view that display are invited to visit the firm's premises and see some of the repairs effected by the most improved appliances. Included in the Industrial Exhibition display was a damaged tyre which, though refused by other firms as beyond repair, the firm will'repair and guarantee a further long period of usefulness on the back wheel of the Owner's car. Messrs Loughrey and Tully are always willing to give advice to motorists respecting tyres. Old covers may still have half their life before them, and what motorist would be willing to throw those covers away when he knows that Messrs Loughrey and Tully can prolong the life of tyres from 100 to 300 per cent.?
