Arrived—Taiyo Maru, from Wellington. NOTES. The lonic will leave Wellington for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers on Tuesday. Over 400 passengers travelled by the Mararoa, which reached Lyttelton at 10.40 a-m. The City of Madras, from Wellington, arrived this morning at Lyttelton to continue the output of the local portion of her Mew York cargo. From here she goes to' Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney for a like purpose. The Union Company's intercolonial Steamer Moeraki arrived here this morning. She had 122 saloon passengers, including 10 from Sydney and 9! steerage passengers. A special train left at 9.45 lor Christchurch. She has for discharge 1621' tons of cargo, including transhipments from the Changsba, Somerset, Lorain, Tango Maru, Kitano Maru, Kamaburo Maru, Taiyo Maru, Goyo Maru, and Gauges Maru. Previously she put out 1603 tons at Wellington. She has a large quantity of general merchandise to load at this port, and has been fixed to sail on the return trip to Sydney, via Wellington, on the arrival of the 5.20 p.m. train to-morrow. The Kittawa left here last night for Timaru, at which port she will load a considerable quantity of produce and then proceed to Bluff. From there she will go to Greymouth to load, but her port of discharge has not yet been announced. The Koromiko, which arrived here yesterday with 35U0 tons of coal and 18 tons of general cargo from Newcastle, should, under ordinary conditions, be ready for dispatch about Wednesday next laden with general cargo for Sydney. After discharge she will sail for Newcastle to load another cargo of coal for Lyttelton. The Waitemata, it is anticipated, will have her loading of produce and general merchandise completed here on Monday evening, when she lias been set down for sailing to Auckland. The Monowai, which is expected here on Sunday, may assist in the ferry service during Carnival Week. The Mokoia, from Dunedin, is due here on Tuesday and sails the same evening for Auckland, via Wellington and East Coast ports, assisting the ferry steamer Manuka In the transit of passengers and cargo to Wellington. The Kamona,'owing to the disturbed state of the bar, is not likely to get away from Greymouth until to-morrow for Lyttelton. After discharging her cargo of coal and timber here she will return to the West Coast, sailing about Friday or Saturday next. The Blackball Company's Ngahere was to have been relaunched from the patent allp at Wellington yesterday, and has been timed to sail to-day for Greymouth. It Is probable that the vessel will make a trip to the Chathams at the end of the month . to bring back a load of sheep. The Ulimaroa, according to Sydney Shipping List, is at present being reconditioned at Cockatoo Island. The Breeze was docked at Port Chalmers on Wednesday for overhaul. Deck-houses will he erected in order to comply with the recent regulations affecting the crew's quarters. Ihe Storm reached Lyttelton this morning from Wanganui, via Wellington, and is timed to sail this evening for Timaru. The Karu, from northern ports, arrived here this morning. The Wootton kit Wellington at 11.10 last night for Lyttelton, where she Is due late to-night. PERSONAL. Mr F. Furneaux is now third engineer of the Manuka, vice Mr R. Mentiplay. Mr C R. Smith, purser of the Mokoia, has Joined the Manuka as assistant purser, relieving Mr J. Sligo. OVERSEAiTvESSELS. The R.M.S. Niagara has been timed to leave Auckland at 3 p.m. on Saturday for Vancouver, via ports. The Waitomo was to have sailed from Newcastle yesterday for Singapore and Calcutta to load for New Zealand.

The New Zealand Shipping Company has advised that the Hororata Is to leave Wellington on Sunday morning for London, via Panama. The Port Darwin, which left Wellington on September 1, arrived at Plymouth on October 19. The Huddart-Parkcr steamer Rlverina leaves Sydney to-day for Wellington, where she is due on Tuesday. It is hoped to dispatch her from the north port on the return trip on November 14. The Shaw-Savill liner Kia Ora, from London, via ports and Noumea, is due at Wellington to-morrow. The vessel is to load at New Plymouth and Wanganui for Low'on. and will sail via Australia. The C. and D. liner Port Elliot left Wellington yesterday for Gisborne for Home loading. She is due back at Wellington about November 16, and will sail three days later for London, via Panama. The New Zealand and African Company has advised that the Paparoa, from Bristol, via Panama, is due at Wellington to-day. She will complete discharge of her cargo at Dunedin. The full-rigged ship Terpsichore (New Zealand Shipping Company, agents), which left Wellington on July 26, arrived at London, via Cape Horn, on November 1. The Bassano left Dunedin yesterday for Newcastle. She will discharge cargo at Melbourne, Adelaide, and Fremanye. The Tofua is to leave Wellington on Monday for San Francisco. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Remucra is to leave Wellington on Tuesday for Port Chalmers, where she will discharge and commence to load for Home. She wffl proceed thence to Lyttelton. Here she will put out the balance of her cargo and continue loading. Later she will return to Wellington to fill up, and at present is advertised to sail on November 25 for London, via Panama. The War Gnat. 5272 tons gross, and the War Rider, 5181 tons gross, post-war steamers, and each with a carrying capacity of 8110 tons deadweight, and built in 1918 and 1919 respectively, have been sold to French buyers for about £240,000 each. It is interesting to note that these vessels recently visited Australia and loaded wheat as special wheat ships for the United Kingdom. In addition to the 94 vessels, of 427,850 gross tonnage, now under the control of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line, six steamers of 7000 tons are under construction. This addition will increase the number of the fleet to 100, weighing, approximately, 409,856 tons.
