Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 6. The Wellington Musical and Elocutionary Competitions commenced to-day. The -entries number 1835, and constitute a Dominion record. The principal events to-day resulted:— Piano solo (18 and under 21 years)— Dorothy Talbot 1, Clifford Kemp 2. Contralto solo—Miss Snefling 1, Mrs Dowler 2, Mrs Hallam 3. Recitation (ladies, 16 and under 21) —Miss Fanny Kutncr 1, Miss Drucy Turner (Christchurch) 2. Song by a New Zealand composer (ladles) —Mrs Johns (Wanganui) 1, Mrs Wildish (Gisbome) 2, Miss Aslin (Duuedin) 3. Burns song (gentlemen)—H. Phipps 1. Shakespearean recitation (gentlemen)—L. H. J. Power 1, Lionel Inch 2, Charles Burnett (Auckland) 3.
Irish song (gentlemen)—A. Mothershcad 1, F. J. R. Gledhill 2, Lee Dew (Gisborne) 3.
