BUSINESS ON 'CHANGE.

A STRONG DEMAND. There was a strong demand for most classes of shares on 'Change to-day. As indicated as probable, National Banks have firmed, a sale being reported at ,. £6 10/-, whilst buyers offered £6 9/-, with sellers quoting £6 12/6. Evidently due to the anticipated increase in capital; New South Wales are in strong -demand, buyers quoting £4O 10/- and sellers £4l. Buyers of Union Banks offered £l2 10/-, but business has been done at £l3. Sellers want £640 fpr P.. and O.'s, and to-day at Auckland buyers offer £630 and sellers quote £638. Thiß stock has therefore advanced. North Canterbury Freezings remain firm, buyers' offers being £3 11/-. Wellington Meats have jumped 1/-. Buyers quote £3 17/- and sellers £4 1/-. Kaiapoi Woollens are weaker, sellers being on the market at £9 10/-. Buyers of Weeks have advanced quotations from £7 10/- to £7 15/-, but sellers still hold off. In mining shares, Waihis have advanced from 52/6, buyers, to 53/3. This* increase is evidently due to the fact that a dividend of ]/- is announced to be paid on December 1.
