ARTISTIC PORTRAITURE.

That photography as a means of expression of character and individuality has progressed is evinced by the beautiful portraits exhibited by Claude Ring in his vestibule at Stewart Dawson's corner, High Street. One glance is sufficient to convince that Mr Ring is getting away from the beaten track and working out his own ideas which produce portraits pleasing to those who wish to be remembered as they are with features and expression that have endeared them to their friends. After an examination of the work displayed in the vestibule downstairs, and in the cheerful drawing-room-like apartment upstairs, which is reached by that most blessed modern invention, the elevator, one does not marvel that Mr Ring does work for clients as far south as Invercargill and :f far north as Auckland. People nowadays want morP than mere photographs or hard charts of the obvious, but quality and satisfaction, so they go to Claude Ring, whose artistic portraiture is having such a great and increasing vogue. Those happy child studies, how mother and lather dote on them! Too soon the child grows up and leaves childhood's days behind, but with portraits which call not only for skill in the art itself, but for a special sympathy and understanding of the child mind, those days will be remembered for all times. Such portaits Mr Ring specialises in for the most shy and nervous children "pal up" with him and soon becomo natural' and happy. Christinas will soon be here and what could be appreciated more by your friends than an "artist proof" of your children. Picture father's delight to find in his stocking such a one.

Do not delay any longer but call 'phone 3053 and make an appointment with Claude Ring. # l2
