ACCUSATION WITHDRAWN.
(A. & N.Z.) LONDON, Nov. 3. At the inquiry into the dismissal of Miss Violet Douglas Pennant, as Commandant of the Women's Air Force, Lord Stanhope withdrew the chief accusation of immorality contained in his speech, and added he would apologise to the House of Lords later. [Lord Stanhope, in moving In the House of Lords for the appointment of a Committee of Inquiry, alleged grave scandals between Army officers and girls training as motor drivers. Some returned drunk from London at 4 in the morning in Government cars. He added that the Government had previously refused an inquiry, fearii.g these revelations.]
