ADDINGTON YARDS.

A DOUBLE MARKET. To-day is a double market at the metropolitan stock sale at Addington, as no sale will be held next week. Butchers' wants were well supplied' with fat sheep and veal calves, and moderately so with lambs, but there was not enough beef cattle offering and very high prices were the rule for these. The store, sections were well supplied, there being an exceptionally bumper yarding of store cattle. The salo drew a large attendance. STORE SHEEP. A slight improvement in the size of the store sheep yarding occurred, but the yarding in quality was inferior to last week's. The demand was fairlybrisk and last week's rates were maintained save where the quality was poor. A line of 126 ewe hoggets was sold on account of Mr C. C. Roberts, of Coutt's Island, for 40/-. The following was the range of prices:— Two-tooth ewes and lambs, 21/11 to 22/-, all counted. Sound-mouth ewes and lambs, 18/- to 24/9, all counted. Four and six-tooth wethers, 33/- to 44/9.

Six and eight-tooth wethers, 36/6 to 39/6. Ewe hoggets, 25/6 to 40/-; shorn 21/9. Mixed sex hoggets, 27/6. Wether hoggets, 22/6 to 33/4. Amongst the principal sales were the following:— Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., sold: On account clients, 114 two-tooth ewes and 110 lambs 22/- all counted, 21 four and six-tooth wethers 33/-, 36 s.m. ewes and 40 lambs 18/- all counted, 70 four and six-tooth wethers 39/-, 63 wether hoggets 27/9, 153 wether hoggets 31/-, 75 four and six-tooth wethers 44/9, 72 f.m. ewes and 74 lambs 19/- all counted, 76 weather hoggets 28/1, 57 four and six-tooth wethers 37/3, 105 wether hoggets 33/4, 21 wether hoggets 23/6, 190 s. and f.m. ewes and 145 lambs 20/9 all counted. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., sold: On account clients, 11 f.m. ewes and 8 lambs 19/6 all counted, 7 f.m. ewes and 11 lambs 14/- all counted, 14 f.m. merino ewes 16/3, 12 two and four-tooth shorn wethers and ewes 24/3, 182 six and eight-tooth wethers 39/6.

H. Matsou and Co. sold: "On account clients: 186 two-tooth ewes and lambs 21/11, all counted, 14 m.s. hoggets 27/6, 49 s.m. ewes and 48 lambs 24/5, all counted; 00 wether hoggets 22/6, 25 ewe hoggets 25/6. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., sold: On account clients: 196 s. and f.m. ewes and 205 lambs 22/6, all counted; 80 s.m. ewes and 76 lambs 24/9, all counted; 145 wether hoggets 29/3. The N.Z. Farmers' Co-oporative Association, Ltd., sold: On account clients, 120 ewe hoggets 40/-, 78 four, six and eight-tooth wethers ;(0/6, 120 wether hoggets 29/6, 122 two and four-tooth wethers 20/9, 3Q ewe hoggets (shorn) 21/9, .'l9 s.m. ewes and 42 lambs 24/-, all counted. FAT LAMBS. A fair yarding of lambs came forward and, whilst this was the largest this year, it did not quite come up to the average for the November donble market. The number yarded was 603, as against 152 at the previous week's sale. The inquiry was keen and butchers took practically the whole of the yarding. Kates, however, wero much on a par with those ruling at last week's sale. The entry of fat cattle, although large, was not equal to a two weeks' supply, ami, under the circumstances, a particularly high level of prices was maintained. The yarding of store cattle was au overflow' one, and easily the largest since the autumn. All classes were penned and, whilst the quality generally left, much to be desired, there were some fair station lines of steers, a proportion of these, lieing Hereford crosses. DAIRY COWS. In size the entry of dairy cows was a very fair one, hut many inferior cattle were penned. VEALERS. A large penning of vealers came forward, and, although there was the usual proportion of recently-dropped calves, the finality on the whole was better than usual.
