WATERSIDE TROUBLE.

HARBOUR BOARD REFERENCE. The recent industrial trouble on th« Wellington waterfront was referred- to by the chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mi H. B. Sorensen) at the meeting of the board held to-day. Mr Sorensen'said: "We appear to have just escaped another industrial trouble oa the waterfront. The practical refusal of | the watersiders unloading vessels fringing Australian coal resulted in considerable delays to shipping, and although _•' the more serious delays and inconvenience which would have resulted from a prolonged labour struggle, have, for the time being been postponed, the delay which did occur, will have to be paid for immediately by those shipping goods, and ultimately by the consumers, that is the general public." Continuing, Mr Sorensen said t;»at he hoped • thrft all members of local bodies would reflect upon the matter he had raised, ;. and would take means to protect their wives and children in the economic struggle for existence.
