BUSINESS ON 'CHANGE.

SHARE QUOTATIONS STEADY. There was little disturbance iu values on the Christchurch Stock Exchange today, and a market basis has not yet been made for P. and O. stock under the new conditions which have arisen, in view of the contemplated issue of new stock. Buyers reduced'their quotations from £630 to £625, whilst sellers quoted £655. The cablegram which made the directors' announcement is not as definite as it might be on several points, so that until more complete intormation is available the attitude by both parties is rather toehold off from what seems at present to be the market basis. A buyer has now appeared for Union Banks". His offer is £l2 15/-, which is equal to a quotation of £63 15/oh the old issue. National Mortgages are firm at buyers' quotations of £5 10/-. Buvers have reduced quotations by 1/for" Adelaide Steamships, which have advanced lately. A close market is shown for Westport Coals at 32/3 and 32/9, buvers' and sellers' quotations, respectively. Christchurch Gas shares I are firming, buyers now offering £6 8/6. So far, sellers have not been attracted. Botii issues of Mason-Struthers are firm, and there is also a strong tendency, for New Zealand Paper Mills at buyers' inquiry at 30/3. To-day, at Auckland, buyers of Waihis offer 52/6, and sellers want 54/-. CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE. TO-DAY'S QUOTATIONS.
