The chairman said that they were no doubt under a misapprehension with, regard to the meeting. They were not sure whether it was the first meeting of the new hoard or the last of the old hoard.' The; latter was the case. ' The election; must be complete before the new board can sit. It; was with genuine regret that he stated: that some of them would not be comrades | anv longer, but he trusted that those who had to go would not lose their interest in the college, and would .lend all the | assistance they'could. . The treasurer • submitted a r»nort showing receipts amounting to £1482 7/2, and expenditure to £llßs 7/5, leaving a credit bolmice of £2R6 19/9. The Appointments Committee recommended that applications be invited in England for the position of agricultural instructor, the salary.to commence at £4OO, P"r\ to increase by £25 for two years to £SOO per annum. The Building Committee recommended tlint the board purchase the section and cottage adioining the hostel property.—The recommendation was approved. A letter was received from the North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Bofrd asking for the use of the Technical College as an auxiliary hospital in the event of a recrudescence of influenza. —It was decided to accede to the request. The chairman reported that since last meeting a combined deputation representing the Education Board, the Technical Colleae Board, the Repatriation Board, and the East Christchurch School Committee waited on the M'nister of Education w'th regard to acqu'ring a new site for the Fast Christchurch Side School in order to allow of much needed extension to the Technical College buildings on the side school playgrounds. A promise was given of favourable consideration of this matter if a suitable site for the new building can be found. In the meantime, owing to the- urgent necessity for providing a workshop for the instruction of discharged soldiers, the committees have been considering the conversion of the garage leased in Madras* Street into a temporary engineering workshop instead of a wool-classing room as originally arranged. The Agricultural Committee reported that i it was endeavouring to obtain a suitable room for wool-classing in the third term so as to free the garage.
