Admiral Viscount Jellicoe laid the foundation stone of the new Returned Soldiers' Club-rooms this morning, and in the afternoon attended the trotting meeting at Addington, given in his honour. To-morrow morning he will deposit in the Christchurch Cathedral the New Zealand Ensign flown by H.M.S. New Zealand at the surrender of "the German fleet. In the afternoon he will leave for the south, on his way to Dunedin. He will spend the night at Timaru. - Mr W. Drake, of the Timaru Telegraph Office, has been appointed postmaster at Sumner. The Rev. Percy Knight, of Durham Si reet. Methodist Church, has been confined to his room this week by a painful illness. However, he -is now making good progress towards recovery. The Hon. John Barr, M.L.C., has been appointed to represent Sumner, Spreydon, New Brighton and Woolston Borough Councils and the Christchurch P-ainage Board on the Christchurch' T hnical College Board of Governors.
