MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Education Board was concluded yesterday. A deputation from Prebbleton School waited upon the board and asked that the new school should be ereoted on a different site from that on which the school stands at present. —It was de : ci'led that members should inspect the sLe. A letter was received from the Education Department approving the board's action with regard to the appointment of organising teachers at Hokitika, Greymouth, Ashburton and Geraldine. Dr H. The Heathcote County Council wrote, strongly urging the board to reconsider the question of the site. A deputation from the school committee, consisting of Messrs Turner and West, waited upon the Buildings Committee, and explained the reasons why the site chosen was the most suitable.—lt was decided that the chairman and as many members of the board as possible should attend a meeting, of householders to consider the rnatter.
