TROTTING.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION.
The usual monthly meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held this afternoon. There were present: Messrs P. Selig (chairman)., H. W. Ritchinghain, H. F. Nlcoll, C. F. Mark, AY. Hopkins, W. H. Denton, and R. Short. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr P. Sells; vice-presi-dent, Mr H. F. Nlcoll; lion, treasurer. Mr W. J. M. Hopkins; Licensing Committee, Messrs W. H. Denton and W. Hopkins; Colours Committee, Messrs H. F. Nlcoll and J. H. Williams; Appeal Committee, Messrs P. Selig, H. W. Kitchinghani, and J. H. Williams; Foreign Horse Committee and Examiners, Messrs \V. H. Denton, J. Samson, C. F. Mark, and R. Short; auditor, Mr R. L. Hicks; Stipendiary Stewards' Committee, Mr H. F. Nicoll and president.
Applications for registration were received from the Methven T.C. and Masterton T.C. It was decided to await further information before dealing with the applications.
The Taranaki T.C. made application for February 7, 1920, as the late on which to hold a meeting. It was decided to refer the matter to the Dates Committee of the conference for an expression of opinion. The Cromwell J.C. asked for information regarding the minimum amount of stakes that must be given for trotting events at racing clubs' meetings. The club also asked if optional races would be permitted at Its" meetings. It was decided to inform the club that the minimum amount of £K\ must be given in stakes for each trotting: race, and that no optional race could be I held. The New Zealand Metropolitan T.C. forwarded particulars of inquiries held at -its August meeting. In each case the action of the club was endorsed. The action of the New Zealand Metropolitan T.C. in fining A. Fleming, H. Kcarns, and J. Taskcr for starting before their time was endorsed. (Proceeding.) . . .....
