J A SPLENDID TRIBUTE. | The chairman of the Red Cross Centre Executive in Christchurch i (Mr J. A. Flesher) has received from his Excellency the Governor-General I (the Earl of Liverpool) a copy of a j letter sent to his Excellency, as president of the Red Cross Society and Order of St.. John in New Zealand, by Surgeon-General R. S. F. I Henderson, Director of Medical Services, expressing appreciation of the services rendered by the society during the war. Surgeon-General Henderson says in his letter' that the society was unfailing in its service in regard to all matters connected 1 wilh well-being of sick and tvonnded soldiers undergoing hospital treatment in New Zealand, on hospital ships and transports, and in the distant parts, of the Empire. It had been a great consolation, to him (General Henderson) to know that there Was a union of loyal patriots to. whom an appeal for urgent E radical assistance.never went uneeded. The work of: the society had been carried. out unostentatiously, and was marked by a magnanimous spirit. In conclusion Sur-geon-General Henderson asked bis Excellency if he would kindly convey his indebtedness and gratitude to the members of the society, for their practical cooperation with, the New Zealand Medical Service in so many spheres of• activity during his period of duty in' New Zealand. .-}
