WHY BILL GOT ANGRY.

To the Editor of THE SUN. Sir,—My mate Bill brought home a map*and on it was printed "With Dr.Thacker's compliments.'' He says as how the doctor wants to be Mayor, of Christchurch and is going to build a canal for the people of Christchurch if they make him mayor. Bill says that Lyttelton harbour is 100' acres and the canal will, be 50 acres. Now the map shows the canal harbour the biggest, so I says it is wrongj but Bill says it is a bird's eye view, and when I .asks what bird, Bill gets wild. Then I asks Bill if the doctor is mayor when our Prince visits us will the Prince make him a lord. If he does will he be Lord Port Christchurch or Lord Canal? Bill got wild again and says he is doing it for humanity. I told Bill r don't know him. Then I had another squint at the map and sees Taylor's Mistake, and asks Bill why as all the other harbours have got names the new one has got none. Bill sayß he don't know, and I says "Why not call ( it Thacker's Mistake.' 5 Bill got mad and said ask The Sun editor.—l am, etc., BILL'S MATE.
