At 4.45 p.m. yesterday a returned soldier in uniform, Frank Edward Flynn, was run over by a tramcar bound for Riecarton, and, as a result of the injuries sustained, lie was removed to the Christchurch Hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate his right arm. The accident, which occurred at the corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Street, was caused .by the soldier attempting to board the ear while it was in motion. He missed his foothold and fell, the back wheels of the car, and also the wheels of the two trailers attached to the car, passing over his right arm, which was practically severed. First aid was rendered, and Flynn was removed to the hospital. To-day it was reported by the hospital authorities that Flynn's condition was satisfactory.
