HOCKEY.

CANTEKBUHY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of Ihe Management Committee af the Canterbury Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr W. Simpson presiding. The chairman was appointed torepresent Ihe association at a meeting to be convened by the Canterbury Progress League for the purpose of advancing sport in Canterbury. A suggestion by the Sydenham Hockey f'Jub that the association should take steps t.j standardise all club's subscriptions and towards securing that all grounds should be controlled by the association—the expenses to be allotted among the clubs—was referred to a sub-committee for a report. It was decided to forward an opinion to Use New Zealand Hockey Association that schools' hockey is impracticable, and that an interpmvincial competition be held for players under 30 years of age. A sob-committee was appointed to go in! > the question of schools' hockey. It was decided to forward a challenge for the New Zealand Hockey Shield. The following sub-cooimitlces were appointed : Competitions: Messrs Holland, Ballamy, and Crawford. Permit: Messrs Throp, Smith, and Morris. Emergency: Messrs Holland, Rogers, and Bellamy. The following officers were appointed:— Treasurer, Mr \V. C. Bishop; deputy-chair-man, Mr S. Holland; Judiciary Committee, Messrs Simpson, Bishop, and Kobb; register keeper, Mr S. Morris. A sub-cmnmittee was appointed to conaider the question of holding a hockey iauraamml on June 3.
