ELECTION OF COUNCILLORS. Fellow Electors,— I have pleasure in announcing my candidature for a scat on the Christchurch City Council, and am glad to be associated with the gentlemen nominated by the Christchurch Citizens' Association. Our whole desire is to secure and maintain a

sound and progressive administration of municipal alTairs. Any movement introduced for the betterment of the people and of living conditions will have my hearty support, so long as it is shaped along sound lines. It is more than ever necessary to-day that we should keep an eye on the City finances, directing oar efforts and expending our money In those directions only which will bring about real progress on sound lines. My business experience and my time f place freely at the disposal of my fellow-citizens in a desire for the common good. I voted for the repeal of proportional representation because I believed thai under the Ward svstem the various districts would be belter represented, because each councillor would have a first-hand knowledge and interest in his own ward. I must add that, whilst doing rav best for my own ward, I should always be glad to help along representatives of any other ward. If the people really want to return to proportional representation, I shall not oppose the change. I wii instrumental in persuading the City Council to agree to the in-

elusion of the Christchurch. Hospital grounds in the City area. Hitherto it has been a sort of "no man's land." but as soon as the Government defines the boundaries the people there will be on the same footing as other residents. I am content to be judged by my record, but would point out that as the result of the last few years' public work I am more than ever qualified to faithfully represent you on the City Council and the Hospital Board. May I add my thanks to the three lady members of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Mesdames Christie, Green, and Wilson.
