TRAMWAY ACCIDENT.
SOLDIER LOSES AN ARM. At 4.45 p.m. yesterday a returned soldier in uniform, Prank Edward Flynn, was run over by a tramcar bound for Riccarton, and, as a result of the injuries sustained, lie was re-. moved to the Christchurch Hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate his right arm. The accident, which occurred at the corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Street, was caused by the soldier attempting to board the car while it was in motion. He missed his foothold and fell, the back wheels of the ear, and also the wheels of the two trailers attached.to the car, passing over his right arm, which was practically severed. First aid was rendered, and Flynn was removed to the hospital. To-day it was reported by tho hospital authorities that Plynn's condition was satisfactory.
