CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS. The Christchurch Bowling Centre's Champion of Champions Competitons were continued on the Edgcware and Christchurch greens on Saturday. Ashburton, Hangiora, Lyttelton and New Brighton were the rinks left in the semi-finals in the rinks competition, Ashburton beating Rangiora by 24 to 20, and Lyttelton beating New Brighton by 26 to 14. The contest between Lyttelton &nd Ashburton proved to be a battle royal between well-matched rinks. The scores ran fairly even, almost right through the game, the competing rinks being even on the Bth, 12th, 19th and 21st heads, an extra head having to be played to determine the issue. The greatest discrepancy at any stage of the game was at the 17th head, when Lyttelton was 19 and Ashburton 13. On the following head Ashburton got five, and on the 19th head one more, making the scores level. Lyttelton got one on the 20th head, and Ashburton one on the 21st. Victory went to Lyttelton on the extra head, and they thus won the Champion of, Champions Pinks Competition for this season. All of the players made a good "showing, but th? two skips played' especially well, E. Henderson (Lyttelton) drawing well throughout, and J. Angus (Ashburton) driving with considerable skill. The teams were: —Lyttelton: D. Page, D. Irwin, S. Sinclair, and E. Henderson.. Ashburton: B. Shearman, M. Kissane, R. Galbruith, and J. Angus. LYTTELTON ~ BECKENHAM. A meeting of the executive committee of the Leyden Street Influenza Depot was held on Saturday evening. Mr L. Qxmandy presided, • and there were also present: Messrs H. J. Otley, A. L. Wilkinson, Jos. Taylor, A. Brown and the Rev H. A. Job. The secretary reported that the last relief in connection with the epidemic had just been given. The financial statement showed a credit balance.of £l6 5/3. In view of a possible recurrence of the epidemic it was decided to keep the committee standing and to reserve tlje funds in case of any future emergency. In response to a request from the St. John Ambulance Brigade it was resolved to make an effort to secure sufficient members to form a local class for instruction in elementary nursing.
