MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court this morning. Drunkenness. —A first offender for drunkenness, who had £lB in his possession, was fined £l, in default 24 hours' imprisonment; while another first offender, not so plentifully supplied with spare cash, was fined ."i/-. in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Theft.—Daniel Tohill pleaded guilty to a Charge of stealing a motor cycle carburretor, valued at £5, the properly of Ernest Hinds. Sub-Inspector Mullany said that accused had up to the present borne a good character. Accused was fined £2 and costs, and ordered to make restitution, in default seven days' imprisonment. A Came of Chance.—William Brosnahail was charged with playing a game of chance in a. public place at Rangiora, while Thomas lirosnahan was charged with aiding and abetting in a game of chance. The eases I were adjourned lor a week. Mr A. .1. Malley appeared for the defendants. 1 Indecent Assault.—Cecil Harper (Mr F. W. Johnston) pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent assault, and was commitied to the Supreme Court lor sentence. Application under the Fencing Act.—Peter Magnus Campbell was ordered to pay £7, half cos! of a dividing fence between his properly and that of Mrs E. J. Bergamini.
