LATE PERSONALS.

Thomas Green, known as "the father of Gore," the first Mayor and a successful business man, died last night after a long illness, aged 79.

Mr R. Valintine Tennent, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Stratford, died there early this week from influenza. The late Mr Tenuent was well known in Christchurcb, where for some years he was assistant accountant in tke local branch of the bank, and afterwards in Timaru and Dunedin, where he was accountant, leaving the latter place early this year for Stratford. Mrs Tennent, who is a daughter of Mr John Cook, Lower Rieearton, has four young daughters.
